Basic X-ray radiation hazard awareness in chiropractic practices
Developed in association with the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). Suitable for practices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Many chiropractic practices use X-ray radiation to examine patients and subsequently plan their treatment.
X-rays can be harmful to health. Many people working in chiropractic practices (such as receptionists, cleaners, landlords, general maintenance workers, etc) are not directly working with the X-ray radiation however their actions, or inaction, could unintentionally lead to either themselves or others becoming exposed to X-ray radiation.
The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (for practices in England, Scotland and Wales) and the Ionising Radiations Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 (for practices in Northern Ireland) both require employees who are not closely involved with the use of the X-ray equipment to be given suitable and proportionate information or instruction to avoid being unnecessarily exposed to ionising radiation.
This training course aims to provide a basic awareness of the X-ray radiation hazard for employees who are not involved in the use of chiropractic X-ray equipment. This course also aims to put the radiation risk into perspective and provides awareness of the arrangements present in chiropractic practices to help keep radiation doses as low as is reasonably practicable.
Every delegate will be given access to the course material for 6 months from the date of enrollment.
Most delegates take less around thirty minutes to complete this training course.
There is an online examination at the end of this course. Upon successful completion of this training, a digital credential (certificate) will be issued by email to the delegate for their records.
