Basic radiation hazard awareness training for X-ray diffraction (XRD) equipment users
Suitable for XRD equipment users in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
X-ray diffraction (XRD) equipment generates and uses x-ray radiation for analytical purposes.
Radiation can be harmful to health so it is important that those using XRD equipment have a basic understanding of the radiation hazard associated with this equipment and the control measures that are in place for their safety.
The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (for employers in England, Scotland and Wales) and the Ionising Radiations Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 (for employers in Northern Ireland) both require employees who work with X-ray radiation to be given suitable and proportionate information or instruction to avoid being unnecessarily exposed to ionising radiation.
Specifically the ionising radiations regulations requires employees who are working with X-ray equipment to know:
i) the risks to health created by exposure to ionising radiation;
ii) the general and specific radiation protection procedures and precautions which should be taken for their work with X-ray equipment; and
iii) the importance of complying with the medical, technical and administrative requirements of the regulations.
The regulations also require training to be repeated at appropriate intervals and documented by the employer.
This training course aims to provide a basic awareness of the radiation hazard for employees who use XRD equipment. This course also aims to put the radiation risk into perspective and provides awareness of the control measures that should be in place to help keep their radiation doses as low as reasonably practicable.
A course handout is provided and this contains all of the slides used in the training package.
Every delegate will be given access to the course material for 6 months from the date of enrollment.
Most delegates take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete this training course.
There is an online examination at the end of this course. Upon successful completion of this training, a digital credential (certificate) will be issued by email to the delegate for their records.

If you are needing to purchase this course for someone else to take then please place an order for this course and select the option of "This is a gift" during the check out process. After you select "This is a gift", you will be asked to enter the name and email address of the person that you wish to enroll on the course.
If you wish to enroll 2 or more people onto the course then please toggle the quantity of courses required to suit your needs. Instructions on how to enroll your delegates will be issued automatically once the check out process is completed.
Alternatively please email us at [email protected] and we can issue you with an invoice associated with your delegate's enrollment onto this course. Normally within 24 hours of receipt of payment we will issue a coupon code to you to share with your delegate so that they can access the course.
If you, or your employer, would prefer to pay by Bank Transfer rather than making an online transaction then we can send you an invoice to help enable this. Please email us at [email protected] stating which course you would like delegates enrolled in and state how many delegates.
For payment via invoice please provide us with your contact details, company name, the appropriate billing address for the invoice, email address for the invoice to be sent to and any purchase order number that needs to appear on the invoice. We will then prepare and dispatch an invoice to you based on these details. Once the invoice has been paid then we will send out a coupon code for use (normally within 24 hours) to allow delegate(s) access to the course(s).
